10 reasons to choose Andorra for your next school ski trip
1. Large ski area
The popular resort of Grandvalira is now one of Europe's largest ski areas with over 200km of pistes to enjoy. Your lift passes will cover at least 3 of the surrounding ski areas which are currently interconnected and offer fabulous skiing opportunities for all abilities.
2. A variety of terrain
Let's not forget Andorra's other main ski destination; Vallnord. Winner of the 'Best Ski Resort in Andorra' at the World Ski Awards 2017, Vallnord has over 63km of pistes spread across 3 different areas. There's a variety of terrain to build skills and technique; the scenic tree-lined pistes at Pal are especially popular with school ski groups.
3. Great facilities
There's been over €50m investment in upgrading lift systems, restaurants and other facilities in Andorran resorts over the last few years. Snow cannons now cover over half the terrain and the efficient lift systems can bring over 100,000 skiers per hour to the mountains!
4. Value for money
Andorra is often cheaper than other European destinations so there's always plenty of great value accommodation options to choose from.

5. Duty free shopping
Many of the shopping areas in Andorra are open in the evenings so an après ski shopping trip is a great opportunity to take advantage of the tax-free prices!
6. Europe's largest spa!
There's a fantastic range of evening entertainment options available for school groups, including Caldea Thermal Spa - the biggest spa in Europe! With 18 floors to enjoy, it's definitely worth a visit.
7. Doorstep skiing
All accommodation in Andorra is within a 10 minute drive to the slopes, with much of it walking distance or doorstep. This means groups get more time on the slopes and spend less time getting there, keeping transport costs to a minimum. Our recommendations for doorstep skiing:
8. Hot lunches on the mountain
After an energetic morning of skiing, the fantastic hot lunches on the mountain will help rejuvenate your young skiers. There's a variety of dishes on offer including the more traditional Catalan cuisine with its variety of popular pork-based dishes.
9. Good progression for beginner and intermediate skiers
In both the main Andorran ski resorts, there are a number of easily-accessible green and blue runs which can help build confidence and technique. When students are ready to progress, the reds are generally slightly gentler than those found in other parts of Europe but there are still plenty of challenging reds and blacks to be found for the more advanced skiers!
10. A unique cultural experience
There's a fascinating mix of French and Spanish culture to experience during your time off the slopes. Although the official language in Andorra is Catalan, over 60% of Andorrans speak Spanish, with some speaking French and Portuguese too! So it's a great chance for your students to learn a few words in another language during their trip.
