Gästehaus Schluga, Gerlitzen
Austria
Skiing and Snowboarding holidays for 13-17 year olds
A small, friendly resort for beginners and improving skiers and boarders
Gerlitzen is a small and friendly resort for beginners and improving skiers to practise their skills. The resort has excellent beginner areas and wide, safe runs on well-groomed slopes.
Gerlitzen is actually the name of the mountain on which the skiing takes place - at just under 2,000 metres, it’s the highest peak in the immediate vicinity and recognised as one of the best vistas in Austria.
Substantial investment in artificial snowmaking means that, despite its modest altitude, Gerlitzen is usually open for skiing from the beginning of December until late April.
The Hotel Schluga is located in the village of Steindorf right on the side of the beautiful Lake Ossiach and in the mountainous Carinthian region of Austria.
The ski area of Gerlitzen is only 9km from Steindorf and there is a free ski bus to the lifts if required. The ski area offers skiing up to 1911m. The four mountain lakes nearby provide water for the extensive snow making facilities which ensure excellent winter conditions all season.
Groups are accommodated on a full-board basis, with a packed lunch provided to be taken onto the slopes. There is a large dining room and breakfast and dinner are buffet style.

Activities available
Alongside Skiing and Snowboarding the PGL Rep's will provide a fun-packed evening programme each day.
These may include a trip to watch an ice hockey game, a visit to the ice rink and various in-house activities.
Food
Fun may be important, but so is food and we want to inspire children into a healthier lifestyle that includes a tasty, balanced diet.
Our centres in Austria have a delicious range of food choices on their menu with a cultural flavour and whenever possible we source fresh, regional produce. We aim to provide a balance of food which is familiar but also gives guests the opportunity to try dishes influenced by the area they are visiting. There will always be a good selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables on offer each day as well as a range of salads.
'Please sir, can I have some more?'
Appetite varies hugely from child to child and we want everyone to leave the dining room feeling full and happy. The buffet style restaurant means that children can ‘mix and match’ the items they enjoy.
Our Ski Reps are on hand to help and will look out for anyone who can’t find anything on the menu that they enjoy. If necessary our catering teams will be more than happy to prepare something special.
Allergies, intolerances and other dietary requirements
A vegetarian alternative can always be provided on all our holidays, and we can accommodate most special diets required on medical or religious grounds, just let us know when you book.
Keeping hydrated
Water, squash, tea and coffee are available with all meals and children are encouraged to refill their water bottles for regular use throughout the day.
