At PGL, we offer a children's horse riding camp for all levels of experience, whether it's their first time riding a horse or their 50th! They'll get to experience all the PGL magic with the chance to get involved with lots of our classic multi-activity games and challenges!

Horse riding camps are a fantastic way for children to boost their skills and confidence! Heading off on holidays with horse riding activities with new people is great for socialisation and making new friends. Here are some of the biggest benefits of horse riding games for children  that we have identified.

Introduction to children’s horse riding

These holidays with horse riding activities are great starting points if your children are interested in horse riding. Your child's love for horse riding could manifest into their favourite hobby and maybe even more if they reach their dreams of becoming a professional equestrian! Any new hobby is beneficial as we encourage children to try new things and see what they like.

Boosts confidence

Riding and controlling an animal with such power as a horse is a confidence booster! Children gain a fantastic sense of achievement through every step of their horse riding journey, from riding a few steps while sitting on a horse to getting them to jump over hurdles.

It's exercise!

It's fun, and it's also exercise. It takes excellent core strength to ride a horse and lots of commitment! But if they love it, it's a brilliant way to get some exercise into their week.

Improve the skills of the experienced riders

Horse riding camps don't just help beginners learn how to ride, but they can also develop the skills of those advanced riders with a lot more experience. Instructors are there to help children horse riders work on their strengths and weaknesses, to make them into an all-rounder!

Absolutely not! At PGL, we have Pony camps for all skill levels. So if your child is a horse riding expert or they are just interested in trying it out, our camps could be for them! Here are the holidays with horse riding activities and camps we have available:

Pony Camp Beginner

Are your little ones just starting out? Do they want to dip their toes in the horse-riding world? Our Pony Camp Beginner needs no previous experience, so it's perfect for first-timers looking for riding lessons! Your child will learn the basics of horse riding and gain confidence around them. We can't guarantee they won't ask for their own when they come back home after experiencing our horse riding games for children!

Available at our Boreatton Park and Windmill Hill centres.

Pony Camp Improver

Are they ready to level up? For those riders who are already at the intermediate stage, our Pony Camp Improver is a great way to develop their skills further and try out some more difficult horse riding activities like Showjumping, Dressage and Cross Country, with a Stage Four Eventing Coach! Not only that, but they'll also lead you through BHS quality training in pony care.

Available at our Liddington centre.

Pony Camp Trekker

A camp for the more experienced riders with at least 12 months of experience. Our horse riding games for children are fantastic for those who are fully confident with horses. Your child will develop their horse riding and stable management skills in our centre's exceptional facilities on our Pony Camp Trekker.

Available at our Tregoyd House centre.

What to take

So, what do your children need to take with them for horse riding holidays? We'll provide all the specialist equipment they need, but the only thing we ask people to bring is their own pair of shoes or boots with a heel. If they want, children can bring their own jockey skullcap as long as it meets BSI safety standards.

If your child is heading off to our Trekker camp, we recommend they bring a body protector, just in case they get the chance to progress to jumping.
