Why PGL is great for dads

Summer is coming and even here in the UK, sunglasses and shorts are starting to make an appearance on the street. As well as the heady scent of sunscreen wafting on the breeze there is also the muskier smell of apprehension in the air as thousands of solo Dads contemplate the rapidly approaching summer holidays and the mixed emotions that holidaying on your own with your kids can elicit in even the most upbeat of fathers.

Spending time together and having fun is what most of us want from our family holiday, preferably without having the hassle of having to produce three meals each day and endless wet weather alternatives varied enough to please everyone from a bored teenager to a stroppy seven-year-old. Few of us would be ambitious enough to add; meeting other like-minded parents, whilst also avoiding the dreaded 'low occupancy' charges often added by many holiday companies.

Experiencing a PGL family holiday for the first time is a real eye-opener for many parents. Aside from the sheer variety of activities on offer, each day is planned for you so there's no debate about who wants to do what when! The PGL team are there to run the activities but also to offer a helping hand when needed and there are always plenty of other parents in the same situation.

For the kids it's a chance to have a great time, make new friends and have the added pleasure of being much better than Dad at most of the activities! Whilst parents can relax and enjoy themselves with their children.

Packing is easy, no-one worries about what you look like at a PGL centre - so long as it's comfortable and dry. Even the most fashion conscious pre-teen forgets to worry about their appearance once the holiday is underway.

Like the activity sessions, meals are taken together as a family. Three meals a day (with plenty of choice) are provided in the dining room - no thinking, planning or cooking required. There's always plenty of opportunities to socialise with other adults in the evenings whilst the kids make even more friends. And then you can crash out at the end of the day in your family room - taking it in turns to have the top bunk of course!
