Ski Leader Guide
Passports and visas
It is the Party Leader’s responsibility to ensure that all party members have a valid passport and that they have the correct documentation for every member of the group.
We do not recommend collective passports for ski trips.
Brexit
Here is the latest Government advice on travel to Europe following the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union.
New rules will apply for travel to Europe from 1 January 2021.
- You’ll need to have at least 6 months left on an adult or child passport to travel to most countries in Europe (not including Ireland).
- If you renewed your current passport before the previous one expired, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. Any extra months on your passport over 10 years may not count towards the 6 months needed.
- You’ll need to renew your passport before travelling if you do not have enough time left on your passport. However all designs of British passports that meet the new rules will be equally acceptable for travel.
A European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is planned to be introduced in 2022, for travel to EU member states. It is anticipated that an ETIAS will be valid for 3 years and will cost 7 Euros, for under 18's it will be free. The ETIAS will need to be applied for before departure (online application) and is expected to become obligatory for all Visa exempt non-EU citizens by the end of 2022. Further information about the ETIAS system can be found here.
